The director Alan Clarke (1935-1990) worked hard in the social cinema. Fer-de-Lance BBC, he has directed many television movies that have shaken the audience with their realism. Especially as his cinema is still quite violent, it is to describe the mid youth prisons ( Scum , 1977), the skinheads who seek the whole society and are unable to insert ( Made in Britain 1982) or hooliganism practiced by the British middle-class (The firm, 1988). Alan Clarke never goes to the back of the spoon to expose questionable solutions of the British state to respond to social unrest, when it does not show altogether absent. Apart Scum dating back to 1977, his most memorable films are concomitant with Thatcherism (1979-1990), which gives even more weight and rage particularly committed to these fictions.
